Politics is one area where you need to be up to date. There are some basic things you just need to know.
Its important to know who is the president of a English speaking country. Which recently passed law is now creating trouble (Obama care) ? What is Apartheid? Why is former PM Thatcher known for? What is the United Nations?
The list goes on. Just make sure you are aware of at least three political issues from each English speaking country you study about in class.
